LOOK AND SEE WHAT  IT’S LIKE TO BE THREE

The preschool learning environment is significant as your child transitions from the dependent world of babies to the independent wondering stage of being three years old. At this age, your child is capable of magical thinking - that is, the belief that actions and thoughts can bring about events. With our creative curriculum, your child is able to create a life of fantasy and make believe through developmental opportunities of imagination and language.  We provide a framework for critical learning experiences that form the building block to your child’s educational needs. Through our age-appropriate learning centers, your three-year-old will learn the basics of numbers, shapes and colors.

Yippee, it’s so fun to be three with S.E.L.C.!

FOURS GALORE

Pack your discovery bags because this program will satisfy your four-year-old child’s desire to explore and learn more. Your child's need to develop friendships blooms and grows in our four-year-old class. Fun and appropriate pre-kindergarten activities provide individual preparation for school by offering choices in degree of creativity and amount of time spent on each activity. Goals for the pre-kindergarten class are oriented towards enhancing developmental skills, which will build on readiness for the kindergarten experience. Your four-year-old child begins to function more independently in our group setting and expands social and learning skills in anticipation for success in school. So jump aboard and let S.E.L.C. help set forth the foundation for your child’s educational future.

Day in the Life of a Four-Year-Old

In today’s society, many of us often skip breakfast, the most important meal of the day. Statistics have proven that children learn and retain more information with a nutritious breakfast each morning.  S.E.L.C. recognizes this need and understands the hectic mornings of most households.  We would like to help in the best interest of both the parents and children.  Although we cannot provide your child with breakfast, your child is more than welcome to bring an already prepared breakfast to school.  Our facility does have a toaster and microwave for your convenience.

*Helpful Hints: Toaster’s Strudels, cereal with milk, yogurt, waffles, fruit, bagels, muffins, donuts, etc.

Rock-a-bye baby, at S.E.L.C.!  As the soft sounds of Mozart’s Lullabies or nature plays in the back-ground, your child drifts off to Never Neverland during our rest time.  The toddlers are gently rocked to sleep in the loving arms of our staff.  We provide a cot for each child to snuggle up on with their special pillow and blanket or sheet from home.  Sweet dreams to all!

S.E.L.C. provides two snacks throughout your child’s day.  The snacks typically complement our thematic unit. Often, your child is a part of preparing this snack.  The AM snack is nutritious and served with juice.  For instance, if the thematic unit is "Welcome Fall," your child may help make applesauce.  The PM snack may not be as nutritious, but it is guaranteed to be delicious.  From homemade ice cream to pudding, cakes and cupcakes galore, your child will always want "smore"!  Not only are we eating a yummy snack, but what better way to learn about measurements and teamwork.

Munch, munch, it’s time for lunch! Each child is required to bring in his/her own lunch.  Unfortunately, S.E.L.C. cannot supply your child with a lunch.  We recommend parents pack a nutritious lunch. Our staff oversees the children as they consume the items in their lunch from the most nutritious to the happy ending snack. We give the children one hour to eat their lunch.  Come join our lunch bunch!
